When the Brits speak of ‘la Costa Blanca’, they usually speak of Benidorm and package holidays. By way of a change we would like to introduce you to the area to the south of Alicante not usually visited by the ‘typical’ English holidaymaker. The province of Alicante is in the south of the Community of Valencia. The principal towns of the south-east region of Spain are Alicante and Elche in the north, Cartagena in the south, Murcia in the west, and Torrevieja in the east.
Altos de la Marquesa VII is located just outside Rojales overlooking both sides of
La Marquesa Golf Course. From Rojales, watch for signs saying GOLF or Pueblo Lucero. Continue to Bricolage Arturo then turn right into
the entrance of the golf course. Continue for 500m, passing the bank, shops and bars etc. on
your left hand side. Continue straight over the roundabout past The Bull Flannagan and up
the hill. After 100m the road bends sharply to the right then Marquesa VII is 100m on the right hand side.

LARGER MAPThere are two main airports, El Altet near to Alicante and San Javier (Murcia) a little further down the coast towards Los Alcazares. The majority of visitors still arrive via Alicante but San Javier is becoming more popular and low-cost airlines now have regular flights there. Both airports are convenient for our villa, so our usual choices are easyJet out of Newcastle, or Jet2 from Newcastle and Leeds-Bradford. Flying from Durham Tees Valley (Teesside) is another option but this route is currently operated by bmibaby who will stop operations in November. Another operator is taking over for next year but we have no details at this time.
The Costa Blanca is well known for a very mild climate enjoying over 320 days of sunshine throughout the year. This part of Spain is famous for its salt lakes which cause a significant reduction in humidity levels, and combining this with the shelter from the surrounding hills and mountains creates a unique micro-climate.
This is an ideal location for year round holiday activities, especially during the dreary winter months in other parts of Europe. For many, it is too hot and crowded during the busy summer season and many visitors come out over the winter and spring months when it is cooler although there is always the risk of the odd shower, even the occasional downpour.
Temperatures rarely fall below 30°C (86°F) during the summer. August is particularly hot with temperatures of 40°C (104°F) by day and very little relief, even at night. Winters are typically very mild with average temperatures around 18°C (64°F).
The WHO (World Health Organisation) have rated this region as having one of the healthiest climates on the planet.
